Hi again everyone,
Well, that process didn’t take as long as I expected, and I only got through one pot of coffee doing it.
I have to tell you it was a nice feeling seeing my work on Amazon on that computer screen.
Now, you may wonder why I’m not jumping up and down with joy? Well it’s not in my nature, I have never been fortunate enough to feel those ecstatic really happy emotions, Yes, it’s sad isn’t it? But as an inspirational young woman once said to me about something, ‘I felt quite made up,’ I think that sums it up for me.
For me it’s lovely to see something that did not exist until I conceived it, wrote it down word by word. The pictures in my head real to me, I had the desire to share the story with others. But what a journey, with its ups and downs. Upsetting my wife on more than one occasion. Sometimes she must have thought that I was never going to put the pen down.
That editing process, WOW. That was horrendous for me, and for her as well I suppose, when you enter the work into the computer that first time. My wife wanted to divorce me, and rightly so too. I wasn’t a nice person when I was editing, I am ashamed to confess. And it seemed to go on forever.
The publishing process was difficult for me, partly because I always manage to choose the difficult path first, that leads nowhere and builds frustration and despair sometimes. But it’s done now, thank goodness.
It’s funny you know; my wife can read a book in a day when she wants. Then I think of the months of work and upset and dedication that goes into producing just one book, it can be heart breaking. Especially when she picks one up she doesn’t like and only reads the first quarter of it and says, “I can’t get into that.” Makes me wonder what people are going to say about my books?
Now I have a knot in my stomach just thinking about that. I do realise that only a tiny proportion of people will like my work, and that’s fine by me, as long as that tiny proportion all find their way to my books:-)
OK, it’s on Amazon now, that’s what you have been waiting to hear isn’t?
